Has your acrylic glass painting become dirty? But you don't know how to clean it? In this article we tell you in a 4-step step-by-step plan how to make a plexiglass painting clean as best as possible.
The 4-step plan for cleaning Plexiglas voor
Plexiglass is not the same as glass, neither in function nor in maintenance. You cannot clean acrylic glass in the same way as normal glass. When you take a lot of soapy water with glass and scrub firmly, this is possible with a plexiglass painting not.
Plexiglass is very sensitive to scratches, so you have to handle it very carefully. We will tell you how to clean your plexiglass the right way.
cleaning plexiglass, the supplies:
- Dishwashing liquid
- Bucket of warm water (not too hot)
- Antistatic cleaner
- Microfiber cloth
- Sponge
Cleaning Plexiglass: to do
1. How do you start?
Grab a bucket of warm water and add a few drops of dish soap. Use plenty of water when cleaning and only a few drops of dish soap. The little bit of cleaning agent is only intended to loosen the dirt.
The water, on the other hand, is intended to move the dirt and get it away from the plexiglass painting. That is why you do not have to use so much detergent.
2. Rinse!
Make sure you don't go back and forth over the acrylic painting too often. After each time, wring the cloth back and forth on the plexiglass. This way you ensure that you remove the dirt from the cloth. Wet the cloth again and continue like this. In this way you ensure that you do not smear the dirt and that you do not scratch your plexiglass. Of course you don't want that!
3. Use anti-static cleaner
Now the anti-static cleaner is discussed. After you've cleaned the plexiglass, put some anti-static cleaner on a microfiber cloth. Wipe this over the plexiglass painting. As the word says, the anti-static cleaner ensures that the plexiglass does not become static. As a result, dust no longer adheres to the plexiglass. In addition, the plexiglass stays clean longer if you treat it with an anti-static cleaner.
4. Let the plexiglass dry
Let the acrylic painting air dry (about 15 to 30 minutes) and voilà! You cleaned your plexiglass.
Cleaning Plexiglass: NOT to do
In addition to means that are good for cleaning your acrylic painting, there are of course also a number of products that are not at all good for acrylic glass. For example, never use chemicals such as:
- Benzene
- Thinner
- acetone
These agents ensure that the surface of the plexiglass becomes soft. This will ruin your plexiglass painting which would be a shame. So stay away from the chemicals as much as possible and use nice old-fashioned soapy water.
